The idea of Distributed Leadership is something I think is required in technology and more specifically technology within education. Most IT departments are trying to handle more and more with less and less and this can put a lot of much strain on its leader to make all the correct decisions. Their needs to be a culture setup that allows for the members of the department or other departments to take idea’s to the the institution’s leadership or even create a review team or committee that can listen to the idea’s. You could even offer incentives for people to come up with idea’s. Most leaders want to stay focused on the vision of the institution and advance technology use within instruction, but at times they are not able dedicate the time and resources to do it, plus they aren’t educators themselves for the most part.
